“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”
Plato
Music is a practical, creative subject, which enhances the lives and learning of all our children and is at the heart of Milford Junior School. Studying music provides children with the opportunity for personal expression and can inspire and motivate. Music reflects our culture and society; the teaching and learning of music enables children to better understand the world they live in. Music education also helps develop numerous life skills such as listening, concentration, aspiration, collaboration, creativity, resilience, self-confidence and a sensitivity towards others.
At Milford Junior School, our aim is to promote enthusiasm for, and enjoyment of, music - in all its forms, as well as enabling the children to develop a range of musical skills and knowledge. We recognise the positive impact music can have on children’s wellbeing and self-esteem and strive to ensure children are able to succeed, are not afraid to make mistakes, enjoy being creative and have the opportunity to fulfil their musical potential.
