Canada Class Year 3

In English, we have been reading How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth and looking at instructions. We are now writing up our own set of instructions for washing a woolly mammoth. This will be the next piece of writing for our Wonder Wall.

In Maths, we have been continuing to look at addition and subtraction and this week we have been learning the formal written method of column addition. We have also been enjoying learning our 2 times tables using our new times table strategy.

In History,  we have started our new topic learning about the Stone Age. We have learnt that the Stone Age period can be split into 3 different time periods called the Mesolithic, Neolithic and Palaeolithic. Last week, we also had our first Now, Press, Play experience where we took part in an interactive story all about the Stone Age. We really enjoyed it and look forward to using it again later in the year with some of our other topics.

In English we have been reading Fantastic Mr Fox. We are now writing our own stories based on this using Resilient Mr Rabbit as our main character. This will be written up in neat for our Wonder Wall before half term.

In Maths, we are currently looking at addition and subtraction. We have also been enjoying learning our 5 times tables using our new times table strategy.

In science, we have been learning about Light this half term. We have learnt about natural and man-made sources of light, how mirrors work and all about shadows.
